Celebrate back to school with us this Friday! CCPLS is partnering with Altavista On Track for the 7th annual Altavista Block Party. Everyone from across Campbell County is invited to this event at the Staunton River Memorial Library in Altavista on Aug. 14, 4 – 7 p.m. Meet up with friends; enjoy face paint, a food truck, and outdoor games; make memories with your family; and dance to some music! The Altavista Milk & Cookies event will be happening at the same time.

Celebrate back-to-school with free milk and cookies to snack on! A photo op will be available to take memorable photos. Public, homeschool, and private school students are all invited.

Summer Session II of Tot Time also returns next week! Tot Time storytimes involve board books, songs, and rhymes that help toddlers with language acquisition and pre-literacy skills. This is a great opportunity to read, play, and have fun together! This program is for children ages 2 – 3 years and their caregivers. Registration through CivicRec is required and is now open.

Storytime Picnic returns on Aug. 20! We bring the book, outdoor games, and fun. You bring a snack (optional) and enjoy the day. Join us at Storytime Picnic at the Timbrook Park Pavilion on Thursdays, Aug. 20 – Oct. 29. We will read the selected book on and off throughout the event, do themed crafts, and play yard games. Swing by anytime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Geared toward ages 0 – 5 and their families.

Storytime returns on Aug. 31! Story readings will happen at the beginning and may include books, songs, rhymes, scarves, and more. Craft and play stations will be available after the reading. Geared for ages 3 – 5, and the whole family is welcome, too. No registration is required.
