This Friday! Enchanted Trail will be on Aug. 7, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Enjoy a scavenger hunt and story as you walk the small trail in the woods behind Timbrook Library. For pre-K and elementary school ages and their families. This is a completely outdoor event, so please dress to be outside for about half an hour, and sensible shoes are needed for the trail. The trail is not stroller friendly.

Coming up next week! CCPLS, in partnership with Altavista On Track, presents the 7th annual Altavista Block Party to celebrate back to school. Everyone from across Campbell County is invited to this event at the Staunton River Memorial Library in Altavista on Friday, Aug. 14, 4 – 7 p.m.

Meet up with friends; enjoy face paint, a food truck, and outdoor games; make memories with your family; and dance to some music! Free door prizes will be available. Be sure to say “hi” to our wonderful Altavista community partners. The Altavista Milk & Cookies event will be happening at the same time.

Our Babygarten Summer Session II starts on Aug. 17! Babygarten storytimes involve board books, songs, and rhymes that help babies with language acquisition and pre-literacy skills. This is a great opportunity to read, play, and have fun together! These free storytimes are open to children ages 0 – 23 months and their caregivers. Registration through CivicRec is required and is now open.

Summer Session II runs from Aug. 17 to Sept. 10 (no classes on Sept. 7). For a schedule of locations and dates/times and the registration link, click on the button below.

Storytime Picnic returns on Aug. 20! We bring the book, outdoor games, and fun. You bring a snack (optional) and enjoy the day. Join us at Storytime Picnic at the Timbrook Park Pavilion on Thursdays, Aug. 20 – Oct. 29. We will read the selected book on and off throughout the event, do themed crafts, and play yard games. Swing by anytime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Geared toward ages 0 – 5 and their families.
