Archaeology Dig Day for all ages at Red Hill this Friday!

This Friday! CCPLS is partnering with Red Hill’s Archaeology Team to explore a real dig site! All ages are welcome to join us. We’ll have a station for our younger friends to dig for “artifacts” and play in some sand. Our older friends are welcome to head to the archaeological work stations to learn more about how to shovel, scrape, and sift dirt from an active dig site. This event will be July 10, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., at Patrick Henry’s Red Hill, which is located at 1250 Red Hill Road, Brookneal.

Sign up your group for a 30-minute archaeological adventure! Work together to solve problems, crack codes, and escape from an ancient pyramid. Groups can be up to 10 people and will need at least one member who is 18+. Only one person needs to register for the entire group. All groups must register for a 30-minute time slot. Choose the date and location that is best for you.

We’ll be at our Rustburg and Timbrook locations for the last four Dino-Sized Storytime Shows + After-Show Exploration Stations this summer! The interactive storytime shows will be during the first half-hour, and then the after-show exploration stations, which may include crafts, science experiments, LEGOs, and more, will be available for an hour. You are welcome to come only for the exploration stations if that is more your jam. Geared for ages 3 – 10 years. No registration is required.

We want to celebrate you and your little ones! Join us for a baby “block” party honoring our Babygarten babies and Tot Time tots. There will be adorable decorations, light refreshments, and of course, blocks! Families from all libraries are invited to this sweet community celebration. For ages 0 – 3 years and their families.

This free event will be at Timbrook Library (Lower Level) on Wednesday, July 15, and you can drop in any time between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Our next Enchanted Trail will be Friday, July 17, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. A small trail in the woods behind Timbrook Library is transformed with decorations and a story, and families are given a scavenger hunt to enjoy as they walk the trail and read the story together. For pre-K and elementary school ages and their families.

Be sure to dress appropriately to be outside for about half an hour, and sensible shoes are a must. Note this is a completely outdoor event, and the trail is not stroller friendly.

We are hosting the Summer Reading Grand Finale Street Fair in Rustburg on Saturday, July 25, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. This annual event is for the whole family and is a celebration of our community and how much we read this summer! There will be food trucks, 60+ vendors, kids’ activities, giveaways, and much more! The majority of the event will be outside in the County Complex around the Campbell County Public Library in Rustburg, but activities will also be inside the library and Historic Courthouse. Everyone is welcome! Free entry.
