Celebrate Ag Day at PHML this Tuesday

Celebrate National Agriculture Day with us at the Patrick Henry Memorial Library in Brookneal this Tuesday, March 24, 4 – 5 p.m.! This event for all ages will include an agricultural storytime.

Children and teens can also compete in our Ag Day LEGO® Contest. What does Ag Day mean to you? Build a LEGO® creation answering that question at our event, and then the community can vote for their favorite the following week. Age categories are 4 – 10 years and 11 – 17 years. The winners will get a prize.

Spring Break Art Week will be April 6 – 10! It will include book + art at each of our locations. Families will listen to a story and create two art projects inspired by the storytime book. Geared toward ages 5 – 17. No registration required. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the following dates:

Timbrook: Tuesday, April 7

Altavista: Wednesday, April 8

Come paint with your peers! Imagination Station Studios will be at two of our locations during Spring Break Art Week. The classes are free, but registration is required.

Ceramic Character Class will be at our Brookneal location on Tuesday, April 7. Choose a ceramic character out of a large assortment and then paint it however you’d like!

Preschool Class (ages 3 – 5): 10 – 10:45 a.m.

Kids Class (ages 5 – 8): 1 – 2 p.m.

Step-by-Step Painting Class will be at Timbrook Library on Friday, April 10. Follow along with a skilled instructor as you paint a beautiful scene on your own canvas!

Preteen Class (ages 8 – 11): 10 – 11 a.m.

Teen Class (ages 12 – 17): 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Storytime Picnic continues this week. Join us each Thursday through May 28 for Storytime Picnic. This program is different from our regular storytimes and is located at the Timbrook Park Pavilion between the library and baseball fields. We will read the selected book on and off throughout the event, do a themed craft, and play yard games. Bring a snack (optional) and swing by anytime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. For children ages 0 – 5 and their families.

Help the Timbrook Library’s Learning Garden grow! Find the garden display inside the library to see what we need. Take a paper vegetable home and purchase the item described (e.g. one large bag of mulch). Bring the item to the library by March 31!
